Topic Dog Boards / Health / Hygroma cysts

Hi. wondered if anyone can help me. I have a 15 wk old doberman bitch who was
bought as a show pup. unfortunately she has developed a hygroma cyst on
her elbow and it's growing fast! Obviously this means she cannot be shown.
However, I wanted to know how to keep the bandages on, as pressure is the
thing that can help make the cyst reduce in size according to my vet. I've tried
all types of bandages, wraps etc but they keep slipping down as soon as the dog
walks. And also if anyone knows any other way to get the cyst to go down
besides draining (which is being done every week) I'd be grateful to know. She
does not, and never did, sleep on a hard floor, so I'm at a loss as to how she
devoloped these, and so is my vet. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

DAWN.

Hi Dawn welcome
I don't know about cysts, but you can get cohesive bandages that cling to them selves but not to fur.
1 type is called (VETRAP BANDAGE) , another is (VET FLEX power bandage)
these are available at the "canine chemists"

You might also try the human bandages designed to support wrists or elbows. Some are made out of neoprene & fasten with velcro....others are tubal, but tighter than just trying to wrap them. Look for them at drug or sports section in the stores.
toodles
