Hi

Can anyone give me any information about training to be able to do microchipping. I have seen an advert in the dog papers to go on a day course for £75 but this seems rather a lot??
Also do you have to have your own insurance to do it etc etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Alex

Ive also recently seen an advert the same, the one i saw said you could take 3 of your own dogs to chip all in with the price i think thats very reasonable as it can cost £15 up to get one dog done. also you can then do your own pups before going to there new homes so no i think thats a good price

I don't know wether I am reading this wrong ,but you think £75 is a lot for training to be able to learn to put a chip under the skin of a prize pup!!!!
After this training you would be quilified to do this on any pup ie:( pug---to ---sharpi,with the knowledge it will not migrate or cause problems at a later date in the pups life ie:needing to be removed by a vet for health reasons.
I personally would have thought it would cost more & take longer to learn to do this process effectivly
& safely for the pups welfare  IMOP

Actually microchipping is a very simple procedure and doesnt require that much pratical experience. Its all the theory that goes on behind it that you pay for! However, the advert which requires you to bring 3 dogs is a course run by a vet. The majority of problems with chips migrating are caused by vets incorrectly implanting! I got trained by the manufacturers of the chip as they are the ones that have developed their system not the vets.
