Would be grateful if anyone can tell me where I can buy a Dogmatic Head Collar. Thank you in advance
Margaret
you can buy them from
dogmatic direct. Mine came within a few days of ordering them.
Did you buy the leather one or one of the others ? I just don't know which ones to get as I need 3 of them !
Margaret
Hiya,
I have a dogmatic for my Dobe - I use the fabric one for her as they are softer than the leather and have a bit of padding, the hair around her face is very fine and I think the leather one might rub her. So it depends on what breed you have - if you have a breed with a thick coat that wouldn't be a worry. Also the leather ones are heavier than the fabric ones so if well looked after will probably last longer but if your dogs aren't used to head collars then the leather ones being heavier might be a bit more difficult for them to get used to. If you phone dogmatic and ask for some advice they are very helpful - they'll tell you where to take measurements aswell so that you get the right size. HTH.

I have 5 RRs and they have one each - they used to wear them instead of collars when I took them out. I left them on them when they were running around. A couple would rub their faces in the grass occasionally but apart from that they ignored them. The only problem I've had is with the fabric underneath, it got chewed and frayed but i think they have leather there now anyway.
Thanks Karen, it's 3 x 8 month old great danes I have. I also have 2 older ones but you could walk them on a piece of thread. I have never used the dogmatic head collar before, but friends of mine have. They have the leather ones. I felt they were a bit on the hard side but they do say they soon soften up. I will take your advice and give them a phone tomorrow to see what they suggest and hopefully 3 will be in the post by tomorrow night.
Thanks folks
Margaret

Hi Margaret,
if you "oil" them or use a good quality leather balsam they soften very quickly. Personally I soaked mine in oil for 24 hours when I got it and cleaned it off with saddle soap - hey presto :P I have a long, fine muzzled breed with a black mask - so can't be too careful with anything in case it causes chaffing and colour changes to any hair that's rubbed off by using an unforgiving piece of leather.
HTH, Teri :)
