Not in that the boxer was lovely and well behaved - far from it actually, he's a pain that always wants to play regardless of the signals my dogs give him. But, nice in that Remy was very well mannered towards him.
The last time we met this boxer, he had a dead rabbit - Remy tends to run off with dead things to eat them, so I put him on a lead when we were getting closer. When Rem couldn't have the rabbit but this boxer - who's about 10 months old, a male - could, he decided that was unacceptable and repeatedly tried to have a proper go at him. Being on a lead of course he didn't get anywhere!
But since then, we've had a couple of problem displays from Remy - the first was an old male boxer. Remy started barking aggressively and trying to get at him - again, on lead, we'd just walked past the boxer. No harm done. The second was a springer - we were in a small pet shop, and I think Remy felt trapped when this little guy came in, so he reacted the same way as he did to the old boxer. Calmed down quick though.
So I've been worried that he's developing issues with boxers and springers - he grumbled at another one, but didn't do anything else - so when I saw Gabe (the first boxer, the one we met today) running towards us I got a bit worried. But, he came hurtling over and Remy went over and said hi - no problems at all. The worst reaction he showed was raising his shoulder hackles a little, for the rest of the walk he just ignored him until we went separate ways. Fantastic! There was no posturing at all, no lifting of lips, nothing - just the hackles. And they were only up a little bit :) so, we're back to the way it used to be it seems - he's been fine with the couple of dogs we've crossed paths with just now (one walking off-leash along a pavement straight towards us, the owners completely unbothered and they didn't ask if mine were ok), and the only dog he's barked at is Jet - a male collie down the road that he hates. So, back to normal :D
