I have a four month old newfoundland and I was advised to give him 3 meals a day, however, when do you change the amount of food and amount of times you feed your dog?

Any feedback would be great!
thanx

There are large breed owners using this message board and I am sure they will be along to help but why not ask your breeder who should be able to help.

I have a Malamute puppy and he is now 5 months old ..I still give him 3 meals a day . Some days he isn't interested in brekkie but will then eat lunch and a massive dinner , other days he eats all 3 meals so I figure I will keep him on 3 for the time being .

There are people here with larger pups than mine (and older pups) who will probably give you a more definitive answer :)

Hi guest, I have wolfhounds and deerhounds. By 4 months I have them down to twice a day plus a handful of big hard biscuits for supper, and am feeding just a little bit less than they want. Mine do fine on that BUT you will find plenty of people with big/giant breeds who will tell you that twice a day is not often enough, and three times a day certainly won't do any harm. So I'd say follow what your breeder advises, just make sure that your pup doesn't get overweight. Best of luck.
