Why do I feel the need to check some of these? Such as :

>A shark is the only fish that can blink with both eyes.

I found this site, where it states categorically "Sharks don't blink. They have upper and lower eyelids, but these lids don't move and don't close over the eye."
Now I'm confused! :o

Nictitating membrane
A thin, tough membrane, or inner eyelid present in the eyes of many sharks. It can be drawn across the eye to protect if it from damage.

Maybe it doesn't actually blink, like we do, but possibly the only fish to have the ability to 'close' both eyes with an inner eyelid?  There and I've just learnt something else :)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 23.02.06 13:16 UTC
Most fish don't have any eyelids at all, so I guess it's a start!

I love research - you learn so much other stuff along the way! :D

AWWW I was enjoying that until these

"A dragonfly has a life span of 24 hours.
A goldfish has a memory span of three seconds. (Some days that's about what my memory span is)"

ER - a dragon fly can live for a few months and most of them live for at least a few weeks look
HERE  :D :D

A Goldfish has much more memory than a few seconds:eek:
RESEARCH HERE and pleasurable things like feeding favourite foods can be remembered for much longer ;) :) with the Goldfish I kept, they would get excited when they saw the yellow box of bloodworm (their favourite treat) even tho they only saw it at most once a week ;)  I would put the box of food in front of the tank and walk away so they weren't then expecting me to feed them ;) but they'd still hang by the box and keep rushing to check the water surface, just in case some bloodworm jumped in :D :D (well, I didn't say they were geniuses now did I ? LOL :D :D :D )
