When should I expect my girl's coat to change?   She's a year old and has was speyed a couple of months ago? Is there anything I can do to maintain her coat as it is? I can't say I've noticed a great change since she was speyed - although everyone told me I would.  Also, does anyone know of any de-tangling products currently available. She doesn't have any great mats, its just that I want to do my best to maintain her coat as it is. She regularly goes to a groomer.  Any thoughts .......?  Thanks and regards, Karen

Hi Karen :)

What breed is your girl?

You wouldn't notice a great change in coat yet because the hormones haven't had a chance to settle down since her op.

Depending upon her breed would depend upon the tools that you use to groom her :)

I think I'm right in saying that the bitch in question is an English Setter. Is that right?

Maybe loanerwhelk could be lucky, and get away with not having unmanagable coat changes at all. I had an American Cocker in full show coat, spayed in July last year. As well as that she developed an under active thyroid which can also cause coat changes. I have had little or no difficulty in maintaining her coat and other than a little dryness, my bitch remains resplendant in full luxurious coat.

So good luck I hope you find the same as me. :)
