Just want to have a rant really!  Yesterday evening I was walking my dogs at the recreation ground and came across two GSD types running around on their own, one of them was quite young but both quite friendly.  They were obviously out on their own so another dog walker and I shut them in the tennis courts and tried phoning around to see if we could trace their owner.  The police didn't want to know and the dog warden clocks off at 5.00pm.  The two local vets were more helpful but couldn't do anything immediately so I took my dogs home and fetched the car and went back to the park and sat and watched over them for 1 1/2 hours until one of the vets located the owner and came and fetched them.  Now it turned out these dogs had escaped from a compound where they were guard dogs, as I said they were quite friendly but when you think of two GSD guard dogs loose in a childrens play area , anything could have happened and if a child had been bitten I'm sure the police would have been there pretty quickly and the dogs could have been put PTS.  Why is it that you can't get anything done until something awful happens.  What would have happened to those poor dogs if I hadn't taken the time to make sure they were all right, it was very cold last night and raining and they were quite a long way from home, it makes me furious.  OK, rant over!
