I have used a springer, it was excellent, nowadays I have nowhere where it is safe to cycle my dogs so I dont

Thanks not so good having no where to go, I've plenty of places to cycle and would liketo take him with me.  I value your opinion Tome so, I think I'll invest.  What does happen if he were to pull hard to one side how well does it work!!! Cheers

Are they really that good as may well invest in one :)

I have been out on a few outings on my bike with Moose and she was a bit of a nightmare especially running in front of the bike

I used to have a dog that I biked on a halti with the lead wrapped around my handlebars and with the brakes on!!!!

I only released the brakes when I went uphill, I NEVER pedalled myself.  We had a few near misses with cats.........

Using the Springer meant that he could not pull me over as the leverage was in the wrong place, he did not get his front paws run over if he decided to move sideways and I felt much more in control.  However I have to admit I did not use the quick release facility on him, but he was a bit of a case.

I was a bit worried about running over his paws or even him getting is paws in the wheel, but you've not had any bad experiences then?  What the quick release facility then - how does it work, etc.  Thanks

We had a few near misses with cats.........  Tell me about it ! :D

You have to have eyes in the back and sides of your head for cat watch :D :D

I will show the OH as he won't take them out on his bike as he thinks it is too dangerous so this may well be the solution ! :)

There is a safety ringwhich detaches should the lead become caught up, I bypassed this and TBH it was a doddle.

Right I've got U.  Ok  thanks for the info.

Tohme, did you use the halti on the springer ? I currently run Alf on a six foot lead on this halti and after a few mishaps he did stop crossing over infront of the bike   he tends to run ahead and does pull me up hills ;)  I am getting a springer I was just wondering if I didnt use a halti on it whether he would be too strong ?

Another thing, I was hoping to run two dogs on the bike, for areas where the other one cant go off lead, do you think I could attach them to eachother with a couple and the just attach one dog to the springer :D

Hmmm, I am not sure I would like to try it, but if I was going to I think I would be tempted to have a springer on either side, so your dogs could actually be like Training Wheels! :D :D

As another thought I did think about one of those child carriers which fix on the back of a bike - this being more for transportation around busier towns rather than exercising.  Any thoughts!!!

We have one of those for Indigo but not sure if I would risk putting one of the girls in there as there is no way to secure them in :)  They may get too used to it as well  :) !

The one I'd been looking at has a harness and thus I can put on his travelling harness and then secure to the internal carrier harness - thus secure!!!  Been thinking about the amount of work I'd have to put in and this is kinda putting me off a bit!!! Pulling 5 1/2 stone of dog up a hill!!!  I reason I looking into this is because we're off travelling for six months, so thinking about the getting about side of things.

Well good luck as we struggle with Indigo in the back going up small hills never mind a 5 1/2 stone doggie lump !! :D :D

I dont think I would fit an Irish Setter in one of those

although as a kid I used to ride round in my happy shopper bike with my Bichon sitting in the basket :D :D
