Topic Dog Boards / General / Puppy Farming Programme on ITV Wales 20.02.06

Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section.

On Monday 20th February at 8pm, Wales this Week will be covering the puppy farming. It will show how a millionaire is backing the efforts of a local Welsh organisation in their fight against this awful business.

Pity this isn't being broadcast nationwide, it might make prospective puppy buyers listen to advice given on the likes of this board and not jump in with their two left feet. Try and advise some people to wait for a litter being born, or if a litter has just been born they dont want to wait 8 weeks till the pups are ready and buy from the free ads, then they discover what they have bought is not what they thought and have loads of problems with the poor pup. Sorry just had to get this off my chest. Started with a phone call I had yesterday someone wanting a pup as of last weeek!!, not wanting to wait. !!!!!  Maybe another pup for the already overworked rescues.

I have to agree with you there.  These programmes should go national, because its the inexperienced in the inner cities that end up buying from these puppy farms because as you say, they cannot be bothered to wait.

Im in Birmingham and wont be able to watch it either.

With any luck it'll get taken up by one of the national companies (consumer power could work here ;) )  it's about time there was a tv programme about this sort of thing, I despair when I meet people who have bought puppies and its obvious when talking to them they went to a puppy farm, and they don't even see a problem with this.  Others I have tried to educate before they get their pup and I'm sure they think I'm just trying to get them to buy from proper breeders because I'm on some sort of commission or trying to keep breeding as a closed 'club' when I recommend contacting breed clubs and going on a list :( :( :(
