Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / milk question

Has anybody here had the injection to dry up a bitches milk? My bitch is having yet another phantom (not mated this time!) and her boobs have been full and dripping for about a week. she spends most of the evening licking them, they are obviously uncomfortable. Has anyone given their bitch the injection (presume its an injection) and does it affect future fertility?

Hi Sally, I can't remember the name but it's not an injection, it's a liquid that's given for between 5 & 7 days ~ I'm sure it begins with D   I've used it twice, with one it worked but she wasn't that heavy in milk.  The next time I used it was on a different bitch about 2 years ago, she had quite a bit of milk & even with the maximum 7 day course it didn't make much of a difference to her.  The next time she was due in season I started her on a course of Vit B6 a month before she was due & then Sepia 30c approx 8 weeks post season & for good measure added a bit of fresh parsley to her meal & that time we had no problems, no phantom & no milk :)

Hope that helps a bit :)

Hi there

It's called Galastop and is a liquid.

I've given Galastop ( a fluid medicine) to a bitch that totally rejected her pups and wanted to kill them. She wasn't mine so the pups stayed here while she went home but the owner told me that she dried up quicKly and well. Can't say what might happen in a future litter as, given this bitches reaction to her pups, she was spayed as soon as she had recovered from a CS and parturition.
