Hi
I have a 6 month old EBT. Every morning she has 'globs' of gooey sleep in each eye, most of the time I can wipe it away, but sometimes I have to wait for it to come out by its self. Is this a EBT trait? Molly & her sister both had 'sleep' in their eyes since about 9wks old.
Molly did have conjuctivitis a few weeks ago which has been cleared up by the vet.
Also Mollys ears haven't gone up yet....when we are walking & she is more alert they are more stiff & they do go up with a head on breeze...but soon go down again! Should I be concerned???
Thanks
Hi there, I have an EBT and he sometimes gets a little sleep in his eye (not loads of gloppy sleep though) which I wipe away with some damp cotton wool. Is great that you got her eyes checked but maybe just pop her back to the vets just to make sure that it isn't a reoccuring infection. Bull terriers ears vary from puppy to puppy. Some take longer to hold there ears erect due to teething so I wouldn't worry just yet. I have known others take up to 12mths so don't panic. Are you showing your bully????? Clare
Hi Clare
I'll pop Molly down the vet in the week just to make sure there is no infection. Regarding her ears, I keep reading they sould be up between 3 & 6 months, but perhaps go down during teething. She has a couple of teeth still on the way through, so like you say she may have plenty of time left yet.
I have never thought about showing Molly, I thought that was for the professionals! Is there anywhere I could find out where the shows are?
Thanks
Anne
Hi Anne, your first port of call would be her breeder who would be able to tell you if she was show potential or not. If you fancied just having a bit of fun with your dog you could enter a the odd companion show or open show which would let you see other bull terrier puppies her age and maybe you would be able to get the opinion of other breeders who are exhibiting their dogs at the shows. As far her ears go not everything is textbook! Her ears would be a problem if you where wanting to show her at 6 mths as they should hold their ears erect according to the breed standard. In the meantime you could join a ringcraft class to see whether or not you like showing and it is also a great place to socialize and meet other bully owners and like minded people. As far as shows go there are doggy newspapers you can buy called Dogworld and Our dogs. In the back you will find listing of forthcoming shows. A good website to look at is www.prodogs.co.uk which also gives you show lists. Younshould also join bull terrier club cosest to your region. They hold shows during the year just for Bull terriers ad its a greet dqy out for everyone catering for the professionals to people just wanting to have a bit of fun showing of their dog. If you have anymore questions feel free to pm me. Just remember to have fun and don't worry about her ears they will come up in due course.
Kind regards, Clare
