Can anyone please explain how to qualify an alaskan malamute for crufts 2007, can they qualify if they are placed in the first three in ANY champ show or have CC's got to be on offer for the breed at that particular show, have been told so many different things i am now really confused:rolleyes:  Have also heard that there are in fact only 6 shows which they can qualify in

CCs have to be on offer for the breed in order to qualify.

Malamutes have been awarded CC status for this year JG.

Mary - there are 6 shows where a full set of CC's are on offer and 2 shows where a single CC is on offer. Give me a sec and i'll dig out the information for you.

Yes, but there will doubtless be champ shows where there are classes for them but no CCs on offer - so they won't be able to qualify at those shows. :)

Ok, the shows where a full set of CC's are on offer are:

Crufts
Birmingham
Scottish Kennel Club (May)
Welsh Kennel Club
National Working & Pastoral
AMCUK Club Show (Sept)

The shows where a single CC are on offer are:

Blackpool
Paignton

In order to qualify you need to be placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd at one of the above shows (not single) and only in the the following classes:

Minor puppy
Puppy
Junior
Post Graduate
Limit
Open
Veteran

There are other ways of qualifying such as getting BIS at an Open Show or getting a Stud Book number.

Thanks for clearing that up :) I meant to write not sure about single as oppose to not single as on the KC page it stated that where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed which I took to mean a full set - not just a single, but I didn't have time to check it before I went out.

so whilst during 2005 Al Mals were able to qualify at most shows - and I would guess you will have a massive entry this year at Crufts, during 06 it will be much harder to qualify as far fewer chances, but given your entries I would expect the number of CCs available to increase quite quickly
