This story was in our local news last week.  The dog, a six month old GSD, swallowed a toy ball and was choking.  The amazing thing is, while the whole family watched in a panic as the poor dog choked only the SEVEN year old son knew what to do, did it, and saved the dog.  The dog probably weighed more than he did but he managed and after a few attempts the ball popped out.  What a very smart little boy, and he was quite articulate when interviewed for TV.  Makes me think I should sign up for one of those doggy first aid courses.  Has anyone taken taken one of them?

Ive seen a kid give a dane the heimlich manoevur - on telly that is.

Kids are much more switched on than most people give them credit for. I hope the little guy got a special treat for saving the dog, I hope the dog got a treat too.
