i have a 1 year old beutiful shar pei occasionaly a spot os blood comes from her bum the vets cannot find any thing up what could it be ?

Hmm, are you sure it's her bum??? If so, it may be that she has a small area of infection or a haemorrid(sp) there. It could be from her anal glands, if they got a bit blocked and she strained too much to relieve herself. Either way, if it was anything serious the Vet would have noticed it and treated it. If it recurs, try to pinpoint WHERE exactly the problem is...use white tissue and blot around the anus until you find the exact spot. If I think of anything else I'll let you know!!! I'm sure others will have some pearls of wisdom! All the best, Dawn X

Does it only happen when she poos? If the blood is bright red and it's only a small amount, it's nothing to worry about. She's probably just strained a little too hard that's all. All the shar-pei I've owned or known are notorious for squeezing as much poop out as possible on a walk - particularly if they've never been on that particular route before - this often causes you to see a tiny amount of blood.

Has the vet ruled out anal furunculosis?

Digger, think the Vet said He/She couldn't find anything there??
