Some advice needed i have a little poodle cross called Ella who is 3 years old.
When she was in season in december my little chihuahua caught her this was on the 23rd of december, we phone the vets and said we wanted to give her the injection but was told he wouldnt as they were now shutting for the holidays.
We also tryed many other vets and had the same problem so we have worked out she is 6 weeks pregant this week (we think) and today when we came to feed her she wouldnt eat.
We have tryed her with other things and she is just very sleeply and wouldnt get up,
normaly she loves her food she is quite big already. Would there have been any chance he could have got her before hand and she is further than we think?.
We never knew she was in season till he caught her we never intendend to breed her this is a mistake as she has a very small hernia the vet says it shouldnt be a problem we intend to castrate our chihuahua and we have depending on how many pups we have homes set up already for them in our family  any advice would be great thank you

That's disgusting that none of the vets would help out.

No idea how late the injection can be given, but assuming it's too late, buy the book of the bitch and stay tuned to this forum, it's great for advice!

Hi

I agree the vet should of injected the dog. What if it was a real emergency would they say come back in Jan and we will operate then.

I am sure the jag is to be given a week after the mating anyway not the next day so it could of been done the week between xmas and new year when most people are back to work.

Anyway my bitch is 4 weeks and has had a couple of days of her food, eating well again one day and not the next. Just one of those things.

Just looked in my diary & if your girl was mated on 23 December you have upto this Friday to have the jab.  Another thought is to have her speyed & remove any puppies at the same time.  At least then you'll not have to go through this again in the future.

Yes, I too do not understand this post.  Your vet can give 'the morning after injection' weeks after the mating to terminate the pregnancy. It does not make sense. Your bitch should not continue the pregnancy with having a hernia, i.e. it may be heridatory causing the pups problems, or it may cause harm to your bitch. I suggest you change your vet, he does not have your bitches interest at heart and should have told you immediately to bring her in after the holidays.

I hope that all goes well for your little girl. I shall keep my fingers crossed for her.

Hi everybody thank you for all replys we were never told of anything like this injection:mad:.
He just stated he couldnt do it over the holiday,
we also rang 2 other vets which stated the same.
We have now changed our vets and we are booked in at 2pm tommorrow.
We are very worried with her hernia as we thought she would have problems
and this could affect ella or the puppies which we do not want to happen.
She is our baby and shes only a tiny little dot.
