Hi my dog had a salter-harris type iv fracture a while ago. (only recently found out name of fracture recently). Can anyone tell me anything about it? I have tried to research it on the net but I don't understand some of the sites at all. Some sites say the prognosis is poor and I am not sure what they mean by this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Jane

<a class='url' href='http://www.veterinary.ankara.edu.tr/AUVFDergi/47Cilt/47-27A.htm'>http://www.veterinary.ankara.edu.tr/AUVFDergi/47Cilt/47-27A.htm</a>  <a class='url' href='http://www.vetsurgerycentral.com/growth_plate.htm'>http://www.vetsurgerycentral.com/growth_plate.htm</a> these sites give SOME insight into the problem of growth plate and medial condylar fractures. Try Google as a search engine as they tend to(in my opinion!) bring up some interesting threads! All the best, Dawn Sorry, meant to say...the prognosis is largely depredant on the degree, site and operative success of the fracture?? Only the Vet or Orthopaedic surgeon would be able to give a prognosis! PLEASE don't read everything and get depressed until you know the final score!

Thanks for the web sites. It seems Tiegan has done exceptionally well after her surgery. She is probably going to have one the pins removed and we have been told she will develop arthiritis when she is older but I will be doing all I can to help with that. Thanks for taking the time to reply
