Jack is a 4 year old Border Collie who is currently on Autarky, previously he was on Burns but couldn't maintain his weight. He is a very nervous dog and although he is fit and active he is underweight.
I'm therefore considering moving him onto Arden Grange, James Wellbeloved, Trophy or Nutro and have received samples and information for all of them this week. However, I am now even more confused with the claims of the manufacturers and the varieties available. I'd be grateful for any advice or comments about these foods and which variety people think is the most appropriate in my situation.
Thank you
Anthony
My lab was on burns but had to change him because he coudnt put weight on and he had a bad reaction to it i have now got him on autarky which has helped him,he has now put weight on and is a much happier dog.I also tried jwb but he also had a reaction to this.
Not much to choose between the foods all have their points for Debate. I have used Trophy for three years (their premium range). However from a service point of view I can't Fault them our Trophy chap rings us when we are due and arranges a delivery to suit me -JO

We use Arden Grange classic for our 5 month old GR and have no complaints but have never tried anything else. We buy it on-line and delivery is good and has always been reliable so far. Have never seen it stocked ready to buy off the shelf so order direct from manufacturers.

mine used to be on nutro & it did keep weight on mine. At the moment im feeding flynn "Genesis" ,as hes very very fussy & actually had to cut him back alittle as he was filling out a little too fast. Its great.
from prevoius chats on here,i believe its very similar to arden grange (whickh ive never tried)

Out of the list you have there, I would recommend either James Wellbeloved or Arden Grange.
If you go for Arden Grange, be aware that they have different ranges, with, imo, different quality ingredients. Their "Classic" range is their less high quality food. Within their higher quality range is Arden Grange Prestige, which looks really good. I was v impressed by the high protein in it - 30% is very high, and if you read the ingredients there is more meat in there than in most dry dog foods. If you have a dog which it is hard to keep the weight on, I would recommend this out of their range.
