What is the the distinction between American and English Cockers. Wish to have Cocker as family pet?

American Cockers are a very glamourous breed with an abundance of long coat, not the breed for anyone who is not prepared to devote a great deal of time to bathing & grooming. Cockers (called English Cockers in the US) have less coat (though they still demand a reasonable amount of coat care) & a different head shape to the American Cocker - Americans have a domed head with a shorter muzzle & rounder eyes than the Cocker. Cockers (English) are also slightly larger in size than the Americans. I'm sure if you use any good search engine, you will find plenty of photos of the two breeds which illustrate the differences.
