Four Spanish Water Dogs and their toys :d

Well let them all out last night and Anton as usual left his toy outside, the rest always bring theirs in.  Got up this morning to let them out opened the back door to get their toys and what do I do?

Didn't remember that Anton's dumbell was at the back door, stands on it, twists my ankle and falls like a sack of potatoes onto the ground.  Now have a very painful and swollen knee, a very sore and bruised back and a poorly foot :d

Oh dear i broke my toes by just running to let a puppy(now 3) out to pee banged it on the sofa and that was hell on earth.

My sympathies :)

hope your ankle gets better soon

i have landed on my bum many times either tripping over toys or when my dogs are playing  and use me as a stopping pole. very painful on a kitchen slate floor.

Puppies should arrive with a health warning and label "humiliation comes as standard" :D

At training we were told to put the dogs on long lines for a "find" exercise.  My dog was getting very excited as the trainer was running away with items to hide.  I hadn't noticed as I let her tear off that she had wrapped the long line round my ankles  which were just yanked straight off the ground.  Good job it wasn't someone  else or I would have probably wet myself laughing.

On another exercise she was walking on loose lead which is brilliant for her and we both must have been concentrating very hard because she was suddenly spooked, yanked and caught me off balance, down I went again.:D  And to think I pay willingly to be humiliated like this.

I can relate to that.
Saturday night the pup decided she needs a wee I jump up to  her out
trips over a black and tan rottie, knee goes one way my ankle goes another
I hit the ground and the dogs think brill moms our new toy lets jump all over her.

Went to Manchester on Sunday hobbled round the ring (got placed so was worth the hobbling)
and came home went to the hospital Monday and after X-rays they think Ive broken my ankle
Ive got to go back tomorrow to see if I need to go in plaster:eek::eek::eek:

Be very careful youve not done more damage than you think.
Id say rest it but how can you rest with dogs:rolleyes:

I never understand how people can have broken their ankle or something and hobble around and not know about it - I broke my leg in two places a few years ago - it was my tib and fib, and I did have to have it pinned, but still, I was led on the floor wailing like a banshee and certainly wasn't hobbling any where - maybe I'm a big girls blouse :-D

My husband only mentioned today while carrying two cups of hot coffe, how strange it is that when ever you are carrying anything you always come across a dog lying in your path. :)I think the carpet got more coffe than i did. :D

Funny you should say that, we were only saying the other day that Ellie, the goldie, has a remarkable talent - wherever you happen to be going, she always manages to get there half a second before you!!!  I'm sure she thinks that her name is 'for **@@*!!'s sake, Ellie'!!!! :D

Oh dear, hope you get better soon.  While my sister's colleague was recuperating from surgery her elderly mother came to stay and help out.  The Mum let the dog out and when he came running back he knocked her off the deck and she broke her hip.  From what I understand the dog did NOT jump on the Mum, just passed by her closely enough to knock her off balance.  Now that it is all over and the outcome is two healed women (and one still very much loved dog) it's kind of funny.

I must admit they were very good as I lay there thinking don't touch me I'm staying on the floor for a while :d  They didn't bounce on me once!

I feel your pain!! I have sprained both ankles over recent months due to tripping over dog paraphernalia and it flippin' hurt!! Then about 2 weeks ago, Lola dug a huge hole right by the back door which I duly stepped in whilst carrying a bowl of fresh water outside for them, twisting my ankle and grazing my knee (gravel patio was a bad idea...ouch  ). It could have been much worse though....the neighbours could have been watching and as I was only wearing a dressing gown at the time the shame would have killed me :o :D

Edit: pssst...I'll take those SWDs off your hands if you really want :D

Oh I'm sorry to hear that:eek:   Hope that you'll recover soon! :)

ouchy!

me and mum was once resting on top off the moors- there were sheep around so our gsd was on a lead-mum had it.
the dog spotted another dog and wanted to play, forgetting she was onlead she took off down the moor with mum in tow flying down on the harsh heather on her belly! it was soooooooo embarrasing, but i did really feel sorry for her :) :0

ps- i still dont know why she didnt let go of lead- the dog was her baby- suppose she didnt want her getting hurt by the dog she was wanting to reach!

hope you feel better soon x

Ouch, I've never gone flying, but I've come pretty close lots of times - these little spaniels do get under the feet! :-)

ooh, bet that was one scratched up tummy.  OUch.  Saw the same thing happen to a friend when we were riding.  The horse spooked; Sally fell off but held on to the reins even as her mare took off.  Probably the rest of us yelling, "Sally, let go" didn't help calm down the horse any but she stopped soon and Sally got back on.  Sally said it felt like her hands were frozen on the reins and she couldn't let go.

One of the people in Spanish had their dog do this to them at a flyball event.  She has only just started doing flyball after over a year and he's only just started to want to do it again as he was that upset re. what had happened to his mum last time, bless :d
- By jumbuck [gb] Date 28.01.06 18:49 UTC
Have you noticed that whenever 'they' play they are always around the backs of your legs!!:-) Bless them.
Hope you all get better soon. Mind you it is cold out, so you can use that as a very good excuse not to go walkies. Get some one else to do it.:-)
