hi all ive just been cutting doras nails and ive made one bleed by accident i feel awful ,anyway what is the stuff you can buy called to stop the bleeding and were can i buy it just for future reference cheers dawn

Don't leave the foot bandaged for any length of time without putting cotton wool between the toes! 
In emergency, if you put an ice cube or very cold water on tissue and apply pressure.  Nails and ears can bleed profusely but will stop!

Styptic powder is good if you are a bit keen with the clippers! You can get it in a little container from PAH, I just dampen a bit of cotton wool with the powder on and hold it for a few seconds(it can sting but doesn't take long to stop) and I have seen Styptic pens too but can't remember where!

thanks for the replys ,its better now but god did it bleed i felt awful ,ill be off to buy some stuff just incase because her nails look really long and i only took the tinyest amount off and i made her bleed cheers again dawn

In an emergancy and if you've nothing else handy Cornflour will stop a nail bleeding

Each time you trim the nail, the quick will recede a little, so if you take a tiny bit off each week, you'll gradually get the nails shorter over a period of time without risking making them bleed. :cool:
