I need to replace my Galvanised Steel Tray thats in my cage as its making my girls coat look horrible can anyone recommend a good supplier of cage trays?

The size I need is LENTH 3ft 5 inch's by 28 inch's I don't mind another Galvanised Steel Tray as long as it does not cause black rust, no matter how much I wipe it it stills gives of this black like dust that covers my girls coat.

I can't use anything like bedding in the cage as I have aready done this and she eats it and I am worried it will cause a blockage.

I think my only option is for a plastic one but I feel it won't last long as she chews when my backs turn, but anything is better than her coat looking so dirty, shes (yellow).

Thanks

Won't it be worse to have her swallowing bits of plastic?  Idea - can you paint the tray, or varnish it?  With non-toxic stuff of course.

I ended up buying a small woven rug for our crate.  It did get nibbled at the edges but nothing compared to other bedding I put in there.

I was hoping to get one of the tough plastic trays that would hopfully be tough enough to stand up to her chewing I have contacted a couple of firms but they won't sell the tray without the cage.

I will have a look at some varnish and paints at the weekend and see if that would be a better option?

Thanks for your reply.

I did try putting carpet in and she chewed it so much it was coming out just as fast as it went in if you know what I mean:mad:

And it was a good quality carpet:rolleyes:Lol

Croft sold me a tray without a cage, its a massive plastic one that I use as the base for my puppy run, it sees pretty tough and hard to imagine how she would get a purchase on it to start chewing if it was a neet fit.  What happens when you put other chew toys in there?

I contacted Croft this afternoon but they did not have the right size I needed, they seemed very relieved they did not have to help I was not impressed with them at all, even though I have bought 3 other cages from them over the years.

Its not a croft cage it was a cheap one I bought on the spare of the moment as I was desperate at the time.

When I had the carpet in the cage and the toys she would go still go for the carpet I think it tasted better:rolleyes:

I think unless I am willing to buy another Croft cage I will have to settle for painting the tray?

My thoughts exactly thats what I was thinking of, or Radiator paint?

Not sure as it really needs to be something that drys quickly.

I tell you who would dogs:rolleyes:LOL.

I think the painting is a your best bet then but perhaps something like nursery paint would be a better even if it is not such a good bond you need to know it will be safe if chewed.  There are a lot of products these days to help bond paint to a variety of surfaces so I think I would investigate that perhaps by asking in a more specialist builders merchants rather than just a DIY store.

I will be trolloping round the DIY stores this weekend to ask lots of Q's for the best product to use I can't think of anything else I can do, so if it works I will post and let others who have the same problem know, so fingers crossed!.

Thanks for all the suggestions
