Can anyone tell me the best way to get my Newfie puppy used to the blaster, she is only 9 weeks old so don't want to scare her.

thankful for any help

My only advice is, start immediately. Let her hear the noise for a minute or so every day. Hold her at one side and the blaster nozzle on the other side, let the air ruffle her for a second or two, she may well protest at first, but you must stick at it.

I do this kind of thing when my puppies have to get accustomed to the clippers. Of course they are not keen to begin with, but they have to get used to it, and they do.

get her used to only the sound at first- just run it for short whiles when she is nearby.
then try her with a small hair dryer and get her used to it nice and gradually.

I agree - start slowly and start from the back end gradually working your way forward as she gets comfortable with it.  Keep talking in a calm, slow but positive voice and don't stop if she wriggles.  Only stop when she is standing still.

I agree with Dawn about starting her asap, but would also agree with the advice to start with a samll Hairldryer first, and build up to the blaster when she is happy with the hairdryer.  I start my Am Cocker pups off at 4 weeks for first hairdo, and hopefully byh about 8 weeks they have accepted it.

bye
