had a great 2 hour walk today with the monster who is now happily asleep, he met lots of dogs including a young dog who played chase with him and submitted to him when caught and mine stood over him, he doesnt hurt him but likes to be on top!! it all sounded a bit rough but the young one kept coming back for more so i wasnt worried, nor were his owners. looks from passers by without dogs were interesting! I wish people would realise that barking doesnt nessarsarily mean trouble, but i know they never will.

I had my two on the fields today aswell and we met 2 labs, its a funny sight to see a large choc lab submitting to a yorkie hee hee  Isnt it nice to see dogs romp and play.  The non dog walkers just gave us a wide birth, which suits me just fine.

Great romps here too! Two lovely boxers, two beautiful labs and all miles bigger than Nips! The non dog walkers just looked at us all as if we were totally mad!

Mine too (a dobermann) loves to have a good play.  I have had alot of problems with him though, never actually had a fight with a dog, but plays very rough and makes lots of noise and like yours (sometimes) likes to be in control.  I have had a behaviourist come home to him and I must say we seem to be improving.  On Saturday we met two boxers (both bitches), he had a wonderful time with them, they were very chasing him, and he was chasing them, it was nice to see him having a run around and playing with other dogs.  Most of the time we play ball, and I must admit he is very focused on his ball (or whatever toy we have), he wont approach another dog while he is playing ball.  I lost alot of confidence with him, but I seem to be getting it back.  The point I wanted to make though is with the noise and barking, people automatically think my dog is fighting with the other dog.  Once when my dog was 7 months old a golden retriever actually went for him, and they had a bit of a handbags situation, but other people who passed by thought that it had been my dog attacking the retriever!!! Obviously because he is a dobermann.

People often think my dogs are fighting because of the noise Opi makes when they play - this morning we actually cut short someone's walk, they were throwing a ball for their springer, and watched me and my two come onto to the field without an issue, but as soon as Opi started trying to play with Remy and making noise they turned and left.  Not like we would've been a problem - I make a point of taking my dogs as far away from other dogs up the park as I can, just so Opi won't go and pester them.  Ho hum.

is it possible to get a dog to no longer want to be dominant over other dogs do you think?

We have an old colliery site near us which has lots of marshy puddles.
I took my 2 (SBT's,) before and Callah was bounding through all the puddles.
Tink (Callahs baby,16 weeks)thought it looked like fun and bounded in after mum.
It was only when she was half way through that it dawned on her that the water was cold
I have never seen her move so fast.It was hilarious :D
They also had great fun playing all pile on with Henry (a Beagle).
