What is recommended for dogs that does not make them sleepey?

The only thing I have used before was from the vets & it made him sleepey & VERY grumpy (he growled & snaped at me ) which I dont want.

My mum allways gave hers sea-legs - a travel pill for humans - is this safe?

I asked the vet & he said only to ever give him somthing made for dogs

Any advice out there?

My vet told  me I could give sea legs half a tab depending on your dogs size mine are med size dogs.

You have to give it 2 hrs before travelling and no food just water .

also try ginger.

Crating in the car with a cover over the sides stopped my girl being sick ...she is fine now but car travel isnt her favorite mode of transport!!!

Tenno - there are a number of things to try.

In order of preference:

A DAP spray.  This works the same as the ones you plug in, but it's in a squirty bottle so it can be used away from the house.  You can spray it on your dog's bedding and he should relax: http://www.petremedies.co.uk/product.asp?P_ID=183&strPageHistory=search&strKeywords=DAP&numPageStartPosition=1&strSearchCriteria=any&PT_ID=all

We have a dog who is car sick, even on an empty stomach, so we now give her 1 sea leg (she is a labrador) the night before travelling and can feed her in the morning and she is fine, can now drive all the way to Scotland without her being sick! She will travel home from a show though fine (despite having titbits throughout the day!) We also found that travelling her loose (not caged) she travelled better, whether it is because she can find her own spot in the back of the car to get comfortable.

its worth giving everything a go to find which is suitable for your pet.

They also can grow out of it too as my Ellie did.

Thanx - I will try sea-legs (she is just under 16kg so 1/2 tablet?)

Maybe try the spray & the flower remidies - can I use them at the same time?

my girl is 20kg so I would give a little less than half myself.
