I know several Cavaliers and can confidentally say there's not a lap dog amongst them. That's not so say they don't like laps and lots of home comforts but they are bright and cheery little dogs who also enjoy the great outdoors!

My Cavaliers are definitely not lapdogs Yes they love people & other dogs & they are happy zooming around. Even my laidback Mr Cool KC has his crazy moments & only today was racing my BC puppy round our rather large garden after the birds & squirrels

They shouldn't be stocky or leggy but somewhere in between. They should ideally weight between 11 & 18 lbs in weight(thats for dogs & bitches) If you click on my profile & go to my dogs website you will see them there

My JD is mega outgoing with a fondness for visiting people's laps for a cuddle but he prefers sleeping with my GSD or BC & goes everywhere with my BC puppy who he is great mates with ;)

They can do pretty much anything. :) Love obedience and can do a LOT  given half a chance. My friend in Sweden had one who was an obedience champion, there are ob ch's in Australia as well, and in fact I know somebody in Australia who does endurance trials with his which includes several miles of running. They're great for agility as well. Really the only thing they're not suitable as is guard dogs and similar -too friendly. :D
