:rolleyes:As you know, i am the only Dogless member of the dog boards:rolleyes:
We have been thinking long and hard about a puppy, (miniature Schnauzer), but we are now considering an older dog. I do have concerns about my arrangements for the pupy to be fed, watered ect (have lines up a dog sitter) on the days i am at work, because, what hapens if they dont come, or dont turn up. Also, they have to come in at least twice a day. I have a friend who is happy to come in during the day, and wald, an older dog with hers, but she does not want the responsibility of a young pup, which i understand completely.
Dont know what i am really asking advice on. But thought I would have a chat:rolleyes:

Well, I think that is probably a good idea and you are thinking of the dog rather than yourself :)
Have you considered contacting the breed rescue, as you may get an adult dog from them?
Good luck, hope you get your dog soon, and are no longer "dogless" :P (then you will have to change your name!)
Awww bless the only dogless member lol, sounds like you won't be for much longer.
Lynsday
I have been in touch with the Miniature Schnauzer rescue, sent an email a couple of days ago.. Waiting for reply.
Alot of the rescue homes I have been in touch with have been quite "sniffy" about the fact that I work part time. Which on one hand i understand, but on the other, many many peple have perfectly happy healthy dogs, and lots of them work much longer hours than me, I only work 2 days out of the 7, I have arranged cover, for the days I am not here, and will arange annual leave for the first 2 weeks, followed by a days annula leave per week for the following month. It is a bit annoying, when you think, I could go out tomorow and "buy" a Puppy no questions. NEVER MInd, nothing ever comes easy. This time next year, I will be onthe boards, saying
I have ahd my dogs for xxxx months and he/she xxxx HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I work part time and my dog is absolutley fine, the two days i am at work my partner and i both come at lunch and my husband pops back every now and then during the day as he is based from home.
i was really worried when i get my dog as i work part time, but its worked out well, my OH pops in and out throughout the day, and the dog enjoys varied days- lots of interaction and play too.
i work like you, 2 days, on those days if my OH isnt around i know that with a walk before and after work that my dog will be just fine. I would just advise that i purposely chose not to get young puppy as i work and wasnt able to take 3 months off work! My dog found me- she was 5 months old and has settled v well- i wish you luck!x
Yes I think that we will start the search for an older dog. I think that would be more suitable fo rus than a little puppy:rolleyes:
Hi chrisjack my dog was around that age too, so it also worked out well and he is one of the happiest dogs around. He came not without his probems, but they were soon worked out due to his age and temprement.
