Just back from taking Glazby for his lunchtime run in the wood and we had such a lovely time. As we were walking along the path I noticed a couple with 2 dobermans infront of me and so I called Glazby and put him on his lead. They saw me do this and called over that their dogs were very friendly and so I explained that, whilst Glaz is friendly he can be a bit boisterous but would they mind if I let him off to play? They said yes and Glazby spent the next 10 minutes or so running up and down one of the fields in the woods with these two beautiful ladies - think he thought he'd died and gone to heaven!! :D
We'll hopefully see them again sometime soon but it was such a treat for him to have a play and for me to see him so happy with his own kind - I've left him snoring on the sofa at home no doubt dreaming about his new ladies!! :D :D
I know that there are plenty of threads about rude people and their dogs out on walks but its so nice to meet some lovely people who don't mind when I ask nicely if Glaz can play with their dogs, and who I think appreciated the fact that I had put Glaz back on his lead and had asked permission. :-)

It is so nice when you can do this which can often happen but I suppose we hear the bad side more often :)
I am lucky having two as they do tend to have fun chasing each other but when they get other friends involved it is even better fun :D
Oooooh I'd love another one (or two or three) if we had the room!! :D

You could squeeze another one in surely

:D :D
We've said that when we buy our own house (hopefully later this year) then we'll add to the family. We have a very understanding landlord when it comes to Glazby but another one might be pushing our luck a bit!! ;-)

Isn't is brilliant when a nice walk turns into a lovely one? The day before yesterday the weather was horrible and I ended up combining some shopping I had to do with walking Nips along the riverbank in town. This isn't my walk of choice but it was nice enough and I'd just put him back on his lead when we met a 9 month old Parson Russell terrier, Archie. It was terrier love at first sight so I took his lead off and the two of them had 15 minutes of absolutely joyful play (which included craftily nicking bread out of someone's shopping basket!!) while I talked to his owners. When we decided we really had to go our separate ways both dogs looked inconsolable so we hope to meet again.
Yep! warms the cockles of ones heart

Better than my walk yesterday when i had to cut it short and go back home because a huge gsd would not stop trying to mount my poor 7 month old virgin. The owner... Just walked of and left his dog to it. yep cheers mate.
Wouldn't mind, but three times this happened and three times owner did bugger all!!
The pest was making our walk a misery.
Raped i tell you raped!!
Lovely to hear of a walk that went so well, and isn't it good when you meet another dog owner on a walk who is "in tune" with you so you both understand what is what :)
Sounds as if Glazby had a really great time, maybe they will meet and play again?

I hope so Lindsay :-) We have seen them about before but generally at a distance so we'll be keeping an eye out for them from now on. It all helps with his socialisation as I do feel sorry for him sometimes - I know that all he wants to do is play but it sometimes get a bit too much for the smaller dogs we meet (or should that be a bit too much for the owners to watch). Its a bit of a neverending cycle - he wants to play but isn't allowed to play and then when he does he's over excited and spoils it. hopefully if we can meet up with them regularly he'll get used to playing and it won't be such a big deal for him anymore :D
ruby tuesday - your poor dog being raped!! I remember when a stray dog kept following us last summer and tried to mount Glazby, it was the first and only time I've seen Glazby turn and really sort another dog out. At the time I wondered about this other dog's sexuality however now realise that this was a dominance issue. How irresponsible of the owner not to come and take his dog away - it seems sometimes that for every responsible and considerate owner there are 5 more who aren't!!
roz - sounds like your little one had fun too!! I can just see them sneaking bread out of someone's basket - little rascals!! :D
