- By CherylS Date 10.01.06 18:19 UTC
love 'em but OH hates them and there always seems to be one or another on at the moment.  Still it's the Football World Cup this year so he will get his own back ;)

Even though lots of people like them I don't think they are the majority, you just need to look at the viewing figures.  Probably seems like they are the majority because people talk about them in a way they don't talk about other programmes
- By melster122 Date 10.01.06 18:21 UTC
I hate them and can't understand what all the fuss is about. LOL
- By Missie Date 10.01.06 18:32 UTC
Hate them posing and acting for the camers
- By Anna [gb] Date 10.01.06 18:35 UTC
I hate them too, never watch them at all they are all sooo boring. My nearly 14 year old daughter is enthralled with Big Brother at the moment:rolleyes:
- By Missie Date 10.01.06 18:36 UTC
I stopped them watching it after the last one  and none of them are interested in this one.

Hmm - sometimes dip into these programmes - never watch all of a programme. I hate the girly bitching, drunkenness, swearing, nudity etc etc etc . However I do find the relationships (NOT sexual :D ) between the 'contestants' fascinating and MIGHT watch a bit more, if it wasn't for the other BIG problems :D :D I wouldn't watch Celebrity BB, because these aren't ordinary people and when I watched a few minutes of it the other evening, I wondered why a few were on it (Rula Lenska and a young chap who seemed quite nice) - the others are just the dregs of the 'celebrity industry' IMHO and so I'm not surprised that they are on it :D

Never watch the celebrity 'talent' competitions - definitely not my scene :D

I can't stand them, either. I have never watched any of them as I find them boring ;) There's plenty of better things to do, like watching milk turn sour
- By SharonM Date 10.01.06 23:14 UTC
Yep, I hate them too, if I want to sit around watching people do nothing, I can do that at home with 4 children and 1 husband....lol.
- By sam Date 10.01.06 21:02 UTC
you are not alone. i never watch any of them, they are complete & utter drivel & full of rather common people I am afraid:mad:
- By milomum Date 10.01.06 21:43 UTC
I got quite into the last BB but have never liked CBBs for some reason. Cant stand Soap Superstars as I dont watch any soaps so dont know who anyone is.
- By Isabel Date 10.01.06 22:07 UTC
Countess Roza-Marie Leopoldnya Lubienska! Common? :D
- By Lindsay Date 10.01.06 23:03 UTC Edited 10.01.06 23:05 UTC
For the most part, I hate them! I think they are the dregs of tv and wonder who watches them and why - then I find myself caught up in some drama on one of them and find myself watching at least some of that particular programme :P

I think they are a bit addictive and it's fascinating watching people - as Daisy says, not the bitchiness, showing off etc (and are some of them shallow) but the relationship side can be very interesting. One part that I remember made me smile was on IACGMOOH - not the last programme but the one before with the weather girl in. It was the way they all had a protest against the food they were given, and she said "nuts without a nutcracker, what's that all about?"
I had to say I agree with her, but it was so funny -doesn't sound that funny written down, you had to see it i guess :P

Yes, I think the human nature side of it is facinating, particular as they are a different kind of human to the rest of us :)  I was very amused by the reaction of the celebs when the pretend celeb was exposed.  They just all rallied round to sympathise with her having to lie, they totally failed to see that BB has really exposed the utter shallowness of modern celebrity, anyone can be it by merely assuming the role :D
- By sam Date 12.01.06 17:17 UTC
yup:cool::cool:
- By Isabel Date 12.01.06 17:49 UTC
Ah! of course.......foreign aristocracy ;) :D
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 10.01.06 23:36 UTC
I'm with you Liberty - why would you want to watch a load of people you'd normally cross the road to avoid, sitting around doing nothing? I just don't get it?

Oh Liberty I am come out to play now. :cool:I was just saying on the BB thread how I feel a bit out of it as I hate them all.  I just can't see the interest but I guess that is what makes the world so different.  The 3 you mention I can't stand.  Not really a huge TV person but these I just can't watch. My daughter likes them. Thankfully my OH hates them to.

PS I don't mind anyone else liking them though. I think my Twin sister watches them all..
- By ChristineW Date 11.01.06 06:00 UTC
I can hold my hand up now & say I have never ever watched a reality TV show all the way through, have no inclination too and certainly feel my life isn't lacking anything for not watching them!!!!  ;)
- By roz [gb] Date 11.01.06 10:56 UTC
I'm not a fan either. I watched quite a lot of the second BB which was one of the best - and didn't involve deliberately selecting a bunch of sociopaths who could be guaranteed to tear each other to shreds when they weren't bonking themselves silly in the shower!

In recent years these reality programmes have spread like fleas on a dog's belly and the worst of all are the so-called "talent shows" which seem to provide the sort of ghastly spectator sport previously offered at public executions.
- By Pip [gb] Date 11.01.06 15:45 UTC
I used to really like them, but there's so many on now I'm just bored to tears with them and always switch over to something else now when one comes on.
- By LJS Date 11.01.06 20:13 UTC
I am on the fence as like some but not others :D

The time they are on are vegging time for me where I lie, normally in bed dribbling slowing dropping off to sleep :D A good cure for insomnia ;)
- By newfiedreams Date 11.01.06 20:26 UTC
I detest Reality shows almost as much as the 'Soaps' that are on!!!:eek::eek:

(she said as she scurried back into her hole :D :D :D)
- By munkeemojo Date 11.01.06 22:10 UTC
and i thought was the only one that 'didn't do soaps'! I find them a bit drying (cue tumbleweed....)
- By echo [gb] Date 11.01.06 23:44 UTC
I want in, what a load of drivel they are.  I  have tried to watch because people tell me there great but get board and sickened after a few minutes.

Each to his/her own.
- By LindyLou [gb] Date 12.01.06 12:20 UTC
Oh no! I got up this morning to find my 11 year old daughter glued to CBB (and no, I don't mean C Beebies!) She wouldn't let me change the channel  Apparently if you don't talk about it at school you're not cool! Heeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllpppppppppp!
- By Lokis mum [gb] Date 13.01.06 09:30 UTC
Id rather lie in my sick bed (where I've been all week) with tonsillitis than watch BB.    vvv annoyed with clips of it on Richard & Judy (what on earth is that thing with the big lips - male/female/silicon?

No, You are not Alone!!

I don't think you can lump them all together though.  I don't watch BB because I find it boring and I hate the bad language and crudity.
But Strictly Come Dancing was my favourite programme when it was on.  At least the 'celebrities' were learning a new skill and providing some level of family entertainment.
- By Missie Date 13.01.06 14:49 UTC
hah theres another one coming on this weekend, I think, celebs learning to skate? or something like that
- By Lindsay Date 13.01.06 15:04 UTC
I agree, I did enjoy (mostly :D ) Strictly Come Dancing - the first one especially with the couple who danced to "the Snowman" - it was so beautiful I recorded it and kept it for a few weeks, and I'm not into dancing really!

You certainly are NOT alone.  I've never watched BB, IACGMOOH, etc.  Total garbage - I'd rather take the dogs for an extra walk. :D
- By MunsterSue [gb] Date 14.01.06 09:32 UTC
Nope, definately not alone. BB was ok(ish) in the first couple of series, but the majority of the reality shows that have been on recently have been a load of rubbish. I watched a reality show a few years ago on sky one - Temptation Island - with much amusement (student days of watching anything that was on!!). How can being put on an secluded island, surrounded by 15 single folk of the opposite sex and the possibility of being 'tempted' into doing something they shouldn't help stregthen a relationship.
