took my pup to vet today. She has kennel cough

Shes on anti biotics for a week and cannot mix with other dogs for 10 days. Its very mild and have caught it early. Would anyone recommend the kennel cough vaccination when shes recovered as I thought they only needed it when staying in kennels?
The vet says she could have picked it up from the park or from her training club.

Just a question. Did you see your Vet disinfect the waiting room and the surgery when he'd diagnosed kennel cough?
i had to take her as a last appointment when no other dogs there - they will have as its contageous

Cheers - sounds like you've got a good'un! I've never ever seen a surgery disinfected after kennel cough, which is why I asked! Also most owners wouldn't know what it was to be offered the last appointment!! ;)
Only 10 days? i was told it was still infectious for about 3 weeks, and that i had to wait at least a week after their last cough. Meg coughed for about 2 weeks anyway!!
THe kennel cough vaccination is ok, it will provide some protection but won't always stop them getting it, its a bit like flu there are som any differnt strains that it can't prevent them all, although it may make it milder. YOu don't just catch it from kennels anymore now, just dog to dog contact is enough. Dogs really don't like it very much though as it is a liquid squirted up their nose which tastes absolutely vile!
Personally, I wouldn't use the vaccine (I must admit to not being a fan of yearly vaccinations) I have found that once mine have had kennel cough, they rarely get in again, or if they do, it's very, very mild.
I know having the vaccination doesnt stop all viruses but didnt want her getting it again.....mmm dont know what to do. I thought Id have to keep her away from other dogs for longer too. May just do that anyway
