I've done a search on this and I cant believe Sam is the only dog on here that suffers with this. He had it first about 12 months ago when  they became red raw with him licking, luckily I noticed quite early on this time and have used fugiderm left over from last time. I've put a buster collar on him but it seems to be taking ages to clear up. Has anybodys dog on here suffered from this and what did you do about it.  If its no better next week I will take him to the vet as he can't wear the collar all the time.

A dog I bred developed this, and of course the licking made it worse.  He was 3 years old and they decided it was simpler to castrate him, and he never had any problems since and is now 8 years old, and looks and acts just as he did when entire.

Thanks for your reply Barbara. It seems to have dried up now but of course hes still got the hood on and I know that when I take it off he will probably start licking again. I'm going to take the collar off and  risk it and as you say castrating him is an option so I'll see what the vet says. Maybe the insurance will pay for that if its a health issue. Well I can live in hope.
