Hi,
We are going to collect our 8 week old Boxer next Thursday and we cant wait The worry i have is that the trip home is over 50 miles, a long time on the road i feel (for the first time at such a tender age too).
I will consult the breeder tomorrow (Saturday) when we go and visit but i was hoping that you good people might have a few good tips so as to make her first road trip a more pleasant.

That's nothing. :) I live in Yorkshire and my pups went to Devon, Cornwall and Northern Ireland! She should be fine. I would ask the breeder NOT to feed her before the journey so that her stomach is fairly empty, as many pups will be a bit car sick during their first few journeys.  So make sure you bring newspapers and old carrier bags and baby wipes just in case. :)

That's not a long way really, when we picked our first two puppies up we drove from Gainsborough to London via Norfolk. One of them has never been keen on cars, and the other one is fine. :-)

Thats local. We live in scotland and my last two munsters came from rotherham [6 hours]. They were great in the car . It is a good idea to have somewhere for them to be safe in the car and to have a helper with you. The breeders of my two were great and knew how far we had to go so had fed the pups in time with us leaving so they wouldn't be sick or poo as they had done it all before we left. A couple of miles up the motorway and they were on theri backs feet in the air snoozing the journey away.

We picked up Dylan from Milton Keynes - then had to travel all the way down to Portsmouth, get on the ferry to Fishbourne Isle of Wight then from there across the Island to Cranmore then back down the Island to our home in Wroxall - a fair few miles :)  Dylan was an angel and slept for most of the journey curled up on my lap :D  I'm sure Boo will be fine too - just remember to ask for something from the litter box that smells of her mum and litter mates, that will certainly help her to settle.

Hay, sounds like i worry too much, all of your little friends have been around the world compered to my 50 mile walk in the park.
We will indeed go prepered with wipes and towels etc, we have left a piece of vet bed with the breeders to make it easier for her when she gets home, it looks like it will serve its purpose sooner than i thorght!!!

Well I took along, kitchen roll a crate with vet bed and a new cuddly toy. His first mum provided the Home blanket. A short car drive with his mum and litter mates and then poor soul was flown on a single engined aeroplane for an hour and a quarter.................He was just fine just a litlle bit of a wee en route.

I don't know, planes, ferries and country long car journeys. What am I worried about!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-D
