This is a UK based site, and methods of dog training here differ by far from methods used over the pond :D !

Just type in "e-collars" in search facility above and you'll soon find out ;)

We don't like them! (apart from a certain individual who posts under various names/sexes)

They are no replacement for proper time consuming training forging a bond of trust between you and your dog.

The only possible legitimate use for the devises, and that in expert hands would be for dogs that are in danger of being put to sleep for stock worrying, but even then it should really be a matter of ensuring the dog is not free to worry livestock.

There really is no shortcut to canine education, same as in humans, if there were an easy way we wouldn't have to go to school for so long.

Ask yourself would you put one on a baby/toddler?

My opinion on electronic devices etc?

"The lift to instant success is out of order, please use the stairs"

In other words as Brainless says there are no magic wands available which replace kind, fair, effective techniques by which both you and your dog will learn much more and become more skilled.  The training method should evolve from the relationship, not the relationship from the training method and IMHO violence begins where knowledge ends.

I have often seen people "overdogged" who, like some people who are over horsed, often will not admit it or ask for help and so resort to inflicting pain when better and more consistent results could have  been achieved by positive reinforcement.
