i know that i have already posted about ringcraft in london but i am unable to go to any as they are all on a tuesday evening which i am unfortunately unable to go to.
i am able to get zigana to stand i think pretty well and i was just wondering whether anyone just learnt by going to shows and learning through experience.
also the breeder i obtained her from has not been helpful at all, she told us that both parents had hip scores but looking at her pedigree recently only her mother was.
i really feel that i should have looked closer before getting ziggi but well she is a lovely dog and i wouldn't change her for the world. any ways my point is
1. can i learn about showing dogs just from going to shows and seeing what goes on.
2. do you think that even tho i did not get my girl from them that another breeder would help me as i want to start (when older) to breed and show.
thanks agaiin - you have all been brilliant with all my questions

Obviously the ideal is take a dog to ringcraft then move onto little open shows or companions then progress on from there but, as you know, this is always possible. I started show my (then) 2 year old HV after only 2 ringcraft classes, so she had only been gone over less than 5/6 times, by a woman and our first judge was a man and she took it all in her stride and came away with BOB!
Keep on standing her yourself and get other people to go over her, doesn't matter if they don't know what they are doing, just as long they don't hurt her! Have them look in her mouth at her teeth, maybe pick a foot up, all the time you keep praising her for standing then reward her with a delish treat at the end! You can practice moving her anywhere really, at the park, on the path outside your house, the distractions are good, there will be lots at a show! Edited to add Have someone take some pictures, or even better, video of you stacking and moving her so you can look at where you might be going wrong and work on those areas.
I do not breed vizslak myself but ask me any questions you like, and there will be some breeders out there who will be able to offer advice to you, on the most part we just want people to enjoy showing..and there its awful to see someone in the ring who is obviously struggling and haven't had any help. Ask people, the worst they can say is no but you may find you get lots of invaluable advice.
Could you PM her sire's name, he may have been hipscored but not added to Zigana's pedigree, I have a list of hipscored HVs, he should be in it :)

i acn go to three ringcraft sessions so maybe that could be a start.
if you google uk vizsla discussion group you will see some pictures of her there. (not standing mind, could you tell me what you think of her?)
thanks again, if i think of any questions i will ask thanks.
might see you at a show oneday perhaps.

I am a member of that group, have been for about 4 years now! Yes, its hard to tell from 'un-posed' piccies but she looks in good condition, nice coat and colour and from what I can se her chest depth is fab, my 3 year old is the saem and when they sit down its obvious what they have!!
Any ringcrafting you can do is better than none, if its a good one(some aren't but good for the socialisationa nd handling more than anything) they'll tell you where you might be going wroung and offer suggestions at standing and moving her so she looks the best she can.
Hopefully will see you about, I don't show my smooths at champ shows(well, actually only very occasionally show Kayla and Chloe stays home!), but wires and smooths are usually near each other, whats Ziggi's KC name?
Emily

she is paddockend snow nymph
thanks alot for all the help i will get my mum to take a pic tonight and post it on there some time soon
she can get a bit skinny sometimes but i always think that it is better than being fat.
she also has a very good movement and when i get her to the right speed she seems to know it as the lead automatically goes slack.
thanks again and good luck with yours
any more information you would like i will be happy to give
