Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / pup off JWB - teething??
- By luvhandles Date 03.01.06 17:07 UTC
Hi,

My pup is now 18 weeks old, he's a CKCS. I've been feeding JWB for a while now and he's been loving it and doing so well but for the past couple of days he's been turning his nose up at it when dry and he'll only eat it when soaked down soft - could it be that he's teething and his mouths sore? I've had a look in his mouth and he doesn't have any lesions ect. I don't mind soaking it but I have noticed that he wee's a lot more as it takes quite a bit of water to soften the biscuits. What do you think?

Hi
It does sound like teething....my pups were the same.
You don't have to add loads of water...put a little in & leave it to soak for a while. You could also try a little drop of milk or a raw egg...either will soften the food.

I agree, it does sound like teething.
The JWB rep once told me to put some hot (not quite boiling) water on it, just enough to cover the bottom couple of layers, and then let it stand for a couple of minutes.
It's meant to bring out the flavour and definatly smells good!  My lot love it done that way and the soft bits may help on sore gums and encorage him to eat a bit more.
