Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / 3 yr old bitch trying to hump my arm - is this common?

Hi Everyone,

I'm a bit confused as I've only ever had bloke dogs and was used witnessing to their humping efforts. However, we rescued a 3 year old bitch from the pound last Thursday who has been rather clingy since then. She'd been in the pound for a week and was pretty trembly and had also acquired KC for which she is taking her meds, including baby benylin which so many of you on this website recommended.

Since Saturday she has made about 6 attempts to hump one of my arms. Each time I've just moved my arm away and carried on as before. However, can anyone please explain to me if this is common behaviour? She was lactating a bit when we got her - we didn't know at the time but the vet told us the next day, so could this be part of the reason? She's very clingy, as I said before. She has to sit on me or my husband and follows us around when we leave a room she is in.

Thanks for any help and advice you can give. You folks certainly know your stuff!
