when a dogs tummy rumbles, does it just mean that like like us, they are hungry?
With mine, it usually means they've got an upset stomach!

oh no!! im pretty sure its just hunger as it happens quite a lot! its quite loud though!!!
How often do you feed your dog? I feed mine twice a day. Better go now as it's THAT time and they're getting restless. The slightest move I make, they all leap up and run to the kitchen door!

we only feed her once, as she would refuse brekkie (she isnt a morning dog!!) and the vet said to give her just one meal in th evening. However i am wondering whether to try brekkie again. although it normal rumbles in the mornings anyway!!!
My dogs tummy rumbles really loudly sometimes in the morning before his breakfast, but then he turns his nose up at his food, I think he's a bit mad refusing food when he's obviously hungry, but he shows no signs of being ill when this happens.
Hi weezie
Might be worth trying feeding her twice a day. What do you feed her?

Try giving a small amount for brekkie as too much in her bowl might put her off. I feed mine twice per day but they only get 1/4 of their daily intake in the morning and the rest in the evening

I would be worried if my dogs tum was dead silent, this is cause for concern. The popping noises you hear when you put your ear to their bellies and the rumbling sounds are the normal noises of their digestive system,it doesnt necessarily mean that they are hungry :)

Weezie I know you have a Weimaraner, I would strongly advise you to feed your dog twice a day to minimise the risk of bloat/gastric torsion
Also, dogs that are left with an empty stomach for too long can start to retch and bring up bile and going this long without food can be too dramatic for blood sugar levels in some dogs.
Your vet should have advised you that feeding twice a day is what is recommended for breeds that are prone to bloat/gastric torsion as Weimaraners certainly are.........

Thanks tohme. we did mention bloat to the vet at the time, but they basically rubished what i said, and said dogs were much better on 1 meal. i will start trying her with brekkie again. what would you suggest if she still refuses it?

If she is not hungry perhaps you could give her a bonio/banana/small tub of yoghurt etc...........

thanks. she does have a few treats during the day, but i think i will start giving her something at a set time as brekkie. she does like her bio yoghurt!!

My dogs' stomachs sometimes rumble in the early evening. They're spaniels and fed once a day. :-)

Rice pudding is something I've found works well in cases like this.
Good luck,

mines not interested in food until lunch time (unless its my toast!!!) so he has a meal then and another at teatime to minimise the risk of bloat.

Thanks for your advice everyone. i think mid morning snack/lunch may be better, she struggles to get out of bed before 9 or 10 let alone eat brekkie!!

every dog i have ever had loves vegimite on toast and my girl will sit at my feet for that but actual food she wont touch until 11:30 . I know i dont want to eat breakfast when i first get up it take me and hour or two to feel hungry so maybe its the same with some dogs
