i know this isnt the area... but the other boards area seem so general, i thought i'd give it a try.  I am not a cat person, but i was curious for those of you who have cat's, what do you do to prevent the cat from fouling your neighbor's garden? I know that it can not be controlled, so is it just a known thing that you may find cat poop in your own garden?

It's just accepted, although disliked. A high-powered water-pistol is a good, humane deterrent.

Wouldnt i have to catch the cat in the act? I don't have automatic sprinklers...

I actually don't mind the cat... if im outside, it will come up to me.  My only concern is that when i bring the new puppy outside, that i didnt want it getting close to the poop.

You dont have an easy life with neighbours cats and dogs do you lol!!!

Yeah, i dont mind the cat as much as the dog, but i walked out to turned over some soil and missed it by this much...

put orange peel on the borders to discourage the cat, as for the barking dog try speaking to the neighbour and get out more!!! its sad when people are obsessed but what there neighbours and there pets are doing:rolleyes:

I tried orange peel and it didn't work.  Mind you our border was 200 feet.

I have remembered something that did work for the cats that kept pooing in the same place and that was to lay down cut blackberry branches.  The won't dig where there's prickley stuff.  Like I said though the Toms used to go on the lawn

Tiger poo is supposed to be the best deterrant :D :D :D

I am not a cat person either and where I lived before I was surrounded by them :D 4 next door alone and our garden bordered 6 other gardens totalling 8 cats between them.

I tried everything that was recommended (apart from the tiger poo :D) and nothing stopped them using my garden as their communal toilet.  Cat owners tell you that cats always bury their poo but they don't do they?  Middle of the lawn was favourite.

Worst thing we ever did was gravel our tiny front garden which then became a giant kitty litter area :D

I did rig up the garden sprinkler near to the cat 'paths' through our garden and had great delight in sneakily turning it on at appropriate moments but it didn't keep them out, unfortunately.

Funny but I have never had a problem with cats in my garden, I think my lot must scare them off. Mind you I don't have any nice easy earth for them as no flowerbeds, just overgrown grass and fruit trees and bushes.

We had a real problem with all the neighbours cats until we got Abby now we rarely see any in the garden.

What about approaching the neighbours and asking them to provide a nice sand box area for their own cats?  In their own yard?

I was told to half fill the 2litre pop bottles with water and place around the garden on their sides. I dont know why or how it works, but its kept the moggys away from my pond :D
