Has anyone had problems with the K.C. when registering pups? Got the reg docs back before Xmas and was ready to give them to new owners when I discovered the k.c. had forgotton to put on the Affix, phoned k.c. and was told sorry did not notice affix !!!!!! we will send you out new documentation ,which meant I had to write out a letter for the new owners stating k.c. reg applied for, why cant the k.c.  check the paperwork correctly. Not the first time this has happened to me either, about the 3rd over so many years. So still waiting on the new paperwork to arrive. Has this happened to anyone else with an Affix.

Yes - a friend of mine recently had the affix left off one!

When you write the name do you put the affix in front of each name, or do you just put your affix in the affix box and assume they will put it in front of the chosen words?

I just wondered, becasuse I assumed that if you didn't write your affix in front of each name choice, and there were at least two words they might assume you didn't want your affix on some of the pups, as I don't think you have to have your affix on them if you didn't want (though I can think of few reasons for not having it on, especially as you pay for it each year).

Yes, I'd have thought if I didn't write my affix in the box it wouldn't be put in the name.

The KC made a complete mess of my last litter registration - mispelling three of the pupies names and getting totally confused when registering the Tervs from my Groenendael breeding - took ages to sort everything out

When we had two litters 3 days apart, the KC registered BOTH litters to the same mum..........took about a month to get it all sorted out

Gosh sounds like I have ben really lucky over the years.

Appart from delays receiving registrations the only problem I ahve ever had was that the sires helath test results were not up to date on the litter registrations, and they sent me updated replacements.

Considering I use foreign words to name my pups they have only once mispelt one.

I guess that they concentrate a lot more with a foreign word to get it right. :-D  I once had a pups name spelt wrong (but I prefered it, so did not mind so much) so I guess there is a lot of human error even at the KC.  I always write my Affix on the pups name as well as in the Affix box (just to make sure)

Affix was written in the "affix" box. but not in front of all the names.

It isn't very clear (last tiem I read the form) whether the affix has to be written down in front of each name choice, but your situatuion would make it seem that is does.

When I filled it in, I wrote the affix and pedigree name together for each puppy, I didnt think it was very clear, so I just wrote the whole lot. Better safe than sorry!

That is what I have always done, but I think the current form is awful.  Who the hell designs these things the spaces are tiny.

As a side issue what do you think of the proposa; that you might soone be able to register litters online.

What about the signature of both bitch owner and stud dog owner.  This could really open the door to abuse witgh dogs appearing to sire litters to bitches their owners knew nothing about, and no-one woudl realise unless the stud owner happened to take the BRS or someone they knew told them.

The notes with form 1 state (10e) "If a Kennel Name/Affix is to be used when registering a litter, the Kennel Name/Affix must appear as the first word in the name."
- By Brainless [gb] Date 31.12.05 22:10 UTC
Ah but you could still read it that it would appear as the first word not that you ahve to write it down next to each choice, as you put it in the afix box.  Have always done it that way though to make sure they put the affix on.
