Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / pups leaving home worming question
- By sarahl [gb] Date 30.12.05 10:38 UTC
It's hard to believe that willow's litter are almost ready to go to their new homes.   They have been wormed at 2 weekly intervals on drontal puppy suspension and I have also bought a couple of drontal worming tablets to pass on to their new owners to ensure they continue to be wormed.    So I can tell them the right information, when can these tablets be given as I don't want them over dosing on wormers?  (they are a medium sized breed)

thanks.

Hi, if the pups are staying locally then you could ask them to bring them back to be wormed - this means you get to see how they're getting on and you know they are being wormed properly. My puppy owners loved this - of course this is not practical if they have all went miles away :)

Give them a copy of the dates they have been wormed and the manufacturers instructions on frequency from now on.

With my own pups I worm them a few days before they leave (so that their tummies settle before moving), and then advise they be wormed monthly to 6 months of age and then every three months after that.
