I am looking to find 2 old english sheepdog pups for around the end of June/mid July. At this time I will be home permanently with my 3 year old daughters. I friend who has OESD and has convinced me that they would be ideal family pets to replace our recently deceased King Charles (at the ripe old age of 15). I am not looking to breed, just find pups that can grow old with us as a family. We are based in the Midlands, but I am happy to travel to view. My email address is helen.brockett@virgin.net

Hi Helen

I'm sure that you will have plenty of replies to this as two pups at the same time ?????? NOT A GOOD IDEA. Apart from the fact that if you don't remember how physically hard it is to have one puppy, they will apparently bond more to each other than to you...... :D

I'll let the others tell you, but I can tell you this. I have a 6 month old Dobe (the Mockodile, which he is known as affectionately :p) and I wouldn't wish two of him on anyone......except for maybe my worst enemy !! One is quite hard enought to keep on top of thanks!

Hi Helen,
I'm sure you mean well...but going from an elderly King Cav to Old English sheepdog puppy, especially two of them, could be quite a shock, especially in size & attitude differences. Since your friend already has an OED, she's likely biased in favor of most EVERYONE sharing in her joy. They are wonderful dogs, but do require quite a bit of maintenance for exercise, hair, and training. They also has a very oddly loud bark.

Seriously, you might like to do some research on your own & find out the pluses & minuses of obtaining this breed. Would it suit your life & your family? I"m not saying it would or would not make a good companion, it just might be best if you checked out all of the angles and not just let your friend be your only outside opinion :)
good luck,
toodles
