Topic Dog Boards / Health / Loss of appetite

I wormed Flynn our 12 week old puppy with Panacur yesterday and he seems to be off his food today.  Is this normal?  He is ok otherwise and has not got an upset tummy or anything.  Does this normally happen when you worm them (it is a 3 day course) or might it be something else?

Thanks

it sounds pretty ok for now a dog might not feel well after worming my bitch never feels well after but if it continues past the worming then take the dog to the vets unless it starts showing any other signs of illness if it starts vomiting alot and im not talking just one small vomit because thats pretty common to im talking continuinly vomitting then take the dog to the vet i once accidently overdosed my bitch and she got pretty sick all the dould do for her was give her some fluids and let her vomit it up it was only a small overdose but it still made her sick enough for the vets
dogs will often have stages when they go on and off their food and it can be because of medication as long as the dog is still drinking and not showing any serious signs of illness then i would say it was just the worming

I use panacur and I usualy find some loss of apetite, and some looseness in some pups too.  I am very careful to only give just enough after weighing the pups carefuly, no guessing.

It is strong stuff.  For example an adult dog gets 1ml per kg of bodyweight (the 10% suspension) yet a sheep gets 1ml per 10kg of bodyweight.
