I was away to the LKA and spent a couple of days on the way home visiting relatives. On return the OH had very kindly moved the dog cages to under the stairs and the freezer into the kitchen. You can guess whats coming!! He hadn't noticed that the dial had been turned to off and YES the Christmas dinner and other festive foods are all or semi defrosted and now in the bin :mad:

why do men always insist on being helpful and doing those jobs that need doing when your not there to supervise it
- By shadbolts [gb] Date 16.12.05 15:13 UTC

a couple of years ago we had a litter of puppies just before christmas so my sister said "come to us for christmas dinner" great thinks i. i asked her what she wanted us to bring and she asked for some of my homemade soup so christmas day off i went ,me ,soup and a couple of the dogs just through the front door and i tripped up over a dog and the soup went flying the lid came off and 4 pints of soup went everywhere walls, carpets and the dogs getting stuck in. i've not been asked back wonder why:confused:

Oh dear :) If you have accidental damage you can claim it on your insurance :)

I bet your OH is feeling rather silly :D
- By Herbiedax [in] Date 17.12.05 15:34 UTC
Yes we have insurance but the excess to pay doesn't make it worth while :-(

Look on the bright side, your little story has brought some smiles to your fellow champdogger's faces! Men! Bless.
- By LJS Date 17.12.05 20:21 UTC
Not sure whether poor Elaine would find the bright side at the moment ;)

Last year I was moving the turkey, which was cooked but had been resting on the side before carving and I had hold of the roasting tin with a teatowel (even though it wasn't hot).As I passed over the sink the teatowel caught on the mixer tap and I watched in slow motion as the turkey, slid out of the tin straight into the washing up bowl full of soapy water.
Believe me the air was blue
Luckily enough I only live 3 doors away from my mum so was able to nip round and cadge a bit of hers :D

Herbie this has happened to my mum before and her house insurance covered all the food that had to be thrown out.  Worth having a look to see if your policy covers you.

Waffy,
You know if that had happened to me I would have rinsed it under the tap and got on and carved the thing!! :-) :-)

Me too, and if anyone complained of the turkey tasting watery I'd blame it on the gravy, if they complained of it tasting soapy I'd blame it on the make of turkey and say "I won't be buying from there again"
- By maglaura [gb] Date 21.12.05 08:42 UTC
never had soapy turkey LOL but one year the turkey was cooling nicely in the kitchen we where all happily chatting in the living room and the Cat decided to help herself to my total shame I cut off the peice she had been chewing and served the rest up for dinner although I never told anyone not sure they would have been happy to share the cats dinner LOL
- By Herbiedax [gb] Date 21.12.05 12:18 UTC
Absolutely, what a waste otherwise LOL!! I've dropped things on the floor and happily washed it under the tap and served up. Not always on my plate!! No one has suffered any ill effects from it  If, heavens forbid, something happens to this 2nd goose I and the OH will eat it regardless. I can't think of anything that will happen to stop me!!
