my bitch recently had eclampsia and she is no longer alowed to feed her pups i was given some tablets which are a herbel blend not an actual drug to help dry her milk up and ive been told to cut back her food and water intake well thats easier said then done i have had to put my garbage bin on the bench because she kept nicking food out of it and she is so hungry i have called my vet so many times asking if this was the best thing for her because she is hungry and wants her normal amount of food i tried spredding the meals out during the day but she is still very hungry and she still hasnt completely dried up usually i would start weaning at 4 weeks and by 7 weeks she would have all the pups of her and would be dried up is there something i can use to speed this up or give her so that she wont be so hungry but wont produce alot of milk i hate having to hold food of my dog and she is trying to eat the pups food so i have had to seperate her completely from the pen and i know she feels as if she is being punished and not allowed near her pups she wants to clean and play with her pups but i cant let them drink of her and they wont stop trying if i let her in with them

to stop them feeding couldnt you put a t-shirt or jumper on your bitch so the pups cant get to her teats but can still spend time with mum?
just an idea :)

yeah i did think about that but it is very hot here right now for inctance its now approaching midnight here and is still 30 degrees and i have to limit her water so i would be worrying about over heating her
