Hi just to let you know that in April/May 04 I posted on here re: daughter having a fixed appliance as her teeth were terrible due to overcrowding, just to let you know today was D Day and it was removed, her teeth will be the envy of many and to say they are perfect is an understatement!  I am so pleased with them and she is beaming from ear to ear!  She has to wear a retainer for a few years but only at night when in bed so she can't wait for school tomorrow to show off her perfect gnashers!  She has eaten no sweets/cakes/chocolates, carbonated drinks in all of this time and cleaned them religiously, worn the elastics that worked alongside the fixed appliance so it's really paid off!  I have bought her an Advent Calendar as a surprise which I'm going to give her tomorrow but to be honest she said today, I don't think I'll ever be able to eat chocolate again!  Bless her, she had it on when she was 10 she is 12 now and looks even more beautiful than she did before (if that is possible).  As you can tell I'm as pleased as she is!

Aww - that's lovely.  My eldest daughter had a fixed brace and my son has one now.  They sure are worth it.  My son had one tooth coming down from the roof of his mouth his teeth were that overcrowded but after just a few months the change is amazing.

I hope she has a lovely day causing her to show off her lovely smile.

It's never too late.  My OH's family all have crooked teeth (that's where my kids get it from). My OH was advised by dentist to have couple of teeth removed and rest straightened because it will protect his teeth in the longterm.  He had fixed brace in his late 30s, 2 of my Sis-In-Laws have them now and they are in their 50s

I had braces when I was younger. I had a removable one for a year or two, but I kept losing it! So I had fixed braces for a year and they did wonders, now I'm supposed to wear retainers in bed until my mid-twenties  but they keep falling out in the night so I gave up!
My teeth weren't crooked at all, they just stuck out. They still do, a bit, but they're so much better. I can actually close my mouth! :D :D

Good for her and more importantly good for you.

I see so many children and adults with ghastly teeth, their parents seem willing to spend hundreds of pounds on designer clothes and trainers but do not provide a gift for life........ good teeth which can help so much with confidence, first impressions, job applications etc etc etc.

I fail to understand why parents will not invest in the future permanent health and happiness of their children, the cost long term is infinitisemal and the rewards outweigh the investment.

I would never condemn my child to a future of crooked teeth.

Well done, I am so pleased she love her new teeth.

I am 23 and I have a crowded mouth.  I wish my parent had made me get my teeth done when I was younger.  I hated the dentist (still do) so they would let me get away with not going. so I never got my teeth straightened.  I would love to get them done in the future, when I am brave enough to go to the dentist.

When I have children, I hope the get my OH's teeth, if they get mine They will be getting theirs straightened.

Well done, tell her to keep smiling :)

Please try and pluck up the courage to go shelwil, honestly if I could show you the pics of her before and after I would, the transformation is amazing, she had a bit of discomfort now'n'again but never pain.  I would recommend this to anyone as Tohme says she has now got a good investment for life and her confidence boosted the day she had the fixed appliance fitted initially but now she's walking on cloud 9.  Not particularly a fan of private medicne but this was worth every penny.

i had fixed braces from the age of 13-15 and then again 17-21. then had a major op on my jaw.
Believe me, people didnt look down on me, laugh at me, stare at me like i thought they would. And it is the BEST thing i ever did :D :D :D
