My daughters Boyfreind gave up a reasonabley well paid job to take up a 3 year Apprenticeship with a Motor company (SEAT) as a Technician.

In return for a lousy apprenticeship wage (around £100 per week)he has ben getting training for official qualifications which involed travelling to college every few months.

He has just been told that they are closing the garage, and he will be made redundant.

Now he is only in the second year, and this leaves him not only without a job, but a qualification that he was promised, adn on the basis of which he was prepared to earn peanuts.

Surely this cannot be right and he should be compensated in some way???

Anyone up on Employment law, especially wehre it relates to Apprenticeships.

The training association he is registered with, should be able to find him another placement to finish his apprenticeship.... In scotland this, is the SMTA, Scottish Motor Traders Association....don't know the English Equivilant....ask him to contact them.
