Hi guys, what's the cost to have your dog spayed?

Warm regards Susan

Varies from vet to vet and usually it's a case of the bigger, the more expensive.  About £150 average for my vets I think.

like marianne says, it depends on the size of the dog. My lab cost £85-classed as a 'medium' size.

Can give you a breakdown as my girl was spayed today.  Poor thing was microchipped at the same time and also had her broken claw removed.  She is looking very sorry for herself.  Not had anything to drink since she came home which is worrying.  She is naughty, I don't think she drinks enough.  Been out and done 2 wees though.

spay is priced per weight.  My girl came in just under the 25kg and so cost £147.90

Our vets do it by weight too...unlucky for us that Kayla was over 25kg when she was spayed! Typical :D  It came to about £210

Maddie was 39kg when speyed, cost me £212.92 in total ( I think the spey itself was £174.72)

If you recieve a means tested benefit such as Income Support, Child Tax Credits etc then vets who are registered with Dogs Trust will spey any bitch, no matter what size for £25 :)

Having ours done next week & it costs £235 if under 30kilos & around £250 if over. Seems my vet is very expensive!

Your vet does sound expensive.  It was only another £10 if my dog had been over 25k (£157.90)

in aus they charge by breed they will ask you the breed before even worrying about weight. If i was to desex my breeding girl (which im not) it would cost about $400 which is pretty expensive and also the older the dog it seems to be a little more expensive. that is with the vet i use, it is cheaper at other vets but i use that vet because $50.00 of every desexing goes to the rspca and also they are the cleanest practice i know of and they are all very nice and supportive which i have found a few of the vets in my area arnt
