Petal Cleanse.... its a product to put on an animal and it helps reduce allergic reactions to humans.... Its made by Bio-Life. Apparently it is a no toxic liquid that is applied with a cloth as a cleanser to dampen down the daner that causes allergic reactions. The company claim that out of hundreds of customers who have tried it only 3 have not had any success. I am asking on behalf of a girl who is severely allergic to dogs (shes been hospitalised 5 times) and desperately wants a dog of her own.

Does anyone know anything about it or anyone who has used it..?

Thanks
Lynn

Sorry Lynn,
I had the wierdest confused reaction thinking that this was a product to help dogs allergic to humans. Couldn't think how it manifested itself --rashes or ???... that was a new one for me :D Gave me a sigh of relief when I figured it out.... imagine that, all by myself too :D Sorry, again it's been a really long day :)

Hi toodles, I got the wrong end of the stick too when I first started reading. The mind boggles at a human allergy in a dog :)

Hi Phillipa
I have to jump in here because there is such an allergy and one of my dogs has suffered from it. It's the GSD I'm looking for a coat to fit. I couldn't find out what was making him so itchy and sore and hypo allergenic diets didn't have any effect so I had him tested with a skin specialist.
Out of the 50 odd substances he was tested for - human skin was one of a few that caused a reaction - so all my cuddles for his suffering was actually making him worse. In the end a vaccine was made up in Holland for him to desensitise him from his allergies (including grasses and feathers!) and after 9 months of injections every week he's now ok. This was about six years ago. have since heard of other dogs allergic to human skin but it was a real shock at the time!

Ok, for the first time in my adult life, I can definitely say that I am learning new and completely unheard bits of information each time I visit here!
Yesterday, it was pregnant bitches having morning sickness. Today, it's dogs having allergies to human skin. What will I learn from this wonderfully useful site tomorrow???? :D :D

There is so much good about this site Toodles. Wealth of information available and that’s why I get so annoyed sometimes. Leigh works so hard on here and I know I sometimes make hard work for her but I can't imagine how anyone cannot have benefited from the site at sometime since it's been here.

Regards, John

I agree with John,we all get slapped wrists sometimes but its a good site else why would we keep coming back.
What we need to remember is personalities sometime clash but I hope we all try to offer to and share our knowledge with people, that way we can all learn.
And I love the fact we dont get bombarded with ads every two seconds :)

I agree with that , mostly 99% of the people who post here do it to help not hinder and certainly not to misinform, Leigh does work hard and I guess it is hard for her putting up with us lot and our moods , but I for one never mean any annoyance to her she is just in the line of fire . Mari to Leigh :) :)

I have had a bitch which had morning sickness. She used to go outside first thing in the morning and shoot me these evil looks as she went. Once she started to feel better she would come back in and be her usual happy self. However I have never heard of dogs with an allergy to humans.

Yes, there was a very informative article about this product in last October's "Choice" magazine, which I kept 'cos I thought it might come in useful.....it's a "lotion you can gently rub into the fur or spray on the feathers of your pet" which apparently reduces allergic symptoms for over 90% of sufferers. Bio-Life has a 7 day a week allergy helpline, its website is www.petallergy.co.uk.
Hope this helps.
Cathy.

I read about it when it was first launched and all the blurb pointed to it being very succesful with most people who were allergic to dogs/dander. It may well be worth trying, if you do could you report back and let us know if it sdoes help, I would be interested to know. :-)

I have a sister-inlaw that has been alergic to pets all her life.
She loves them but has never been able to have them
untill 4 years ago at the age of 35 she found out that a friends large longed haired YORKY didn't affect her she had no reaction to it & didn't need to take her tablets that she has to take before & after visting houses with pets.
She now has one of her own & it even sleeps on the bed:(
she still gets bad alergic reactions around other pets though (perhaps this should be re-named labradoodles:d )

Hair vs. Fur :D .... Seriously, Yorkies, poodles and some other breeds of dogs have hair more like humans than other dogs. They don't shed & it has to be trimmed. It really makes a difference in allergy & cleaning problems. Personally, I"ve always loved Yorkies. I just dislike how they are not respected & are being bred into 1-3 pound dogs!!!! That's just too small, in my humble opinion.

The breed I'm most allergic to is the Bichon!
- By eoghania [de] Date 07.05.02 13:19 UTC
Never been around a Bichon... but of all the dogs out there, interesting reaction. Do you have any idea why you have it Bec?
- By LongDog [gb] Date 07.05.02 18:18 UTC
Is that a wash-hand Bichon or a toilet Bichon?

Oh must I start taking those tablets again?? :) :) :)
- By weims [gb] Date 07.05.02 19:30 UTC
Hi everyone.....sorry for the confusion....I mean the girl is allergic to the dog... this product is put on the dog with a cloth once a week, it then helps to reduce allergic reactions in the human. The company claim that out of hundreds of bottles sold, only three people it hasnt worked for! I just wondered if anyone has used it or knew anyone who has used it....and does it do what the company claim?

Lynn

Sorry Lynn,
I think we all got in line with understanding the intent of your query... ..but we kind of highjacked your post. I apologize. I wish I could help, but I have allergies to the road construction outside our front door... The girls do too :(
