Well - I know that Christmas Parties are always rife with embarassing stories of people "over doing" it but this year I didn't!!  Was so well behaved - just a glass of wine with my dinner and then water for the rest of the meal.

How come then did I manage to fall down the stairs, land in a heap at the feet of about 20 of my work colleagues and end up being rushed to hospital?!?!?!

It was a total nasty accident but I'm totally mortified all the same.....  :-(

I've got a knee thats swollen to three times the size of my other one, a broken little finger, bruises all the way down my thigh and bruised tissues around my ribs.

Ouch ouch ouch but I don't know whats worse - the embarassement or the pain!!!!

Needing sympathy over here today!!!  :-(

My pride was definitely dented along with the rest of me - this is the second year on the trot that I've managed to make a spectacle of myself and be home by 7pm!!

Last year was alcohol induced and I learned my lesson - not that anyone believes me (apparently if you fall down the stairs at a party then you must be drunk)!!   LOL  apparently it was quite spectacular however I was more worried about the noise I made at the time - my huge lump going BANG BANG BANG down the stairs!!!  :D

Worst things was - I got to the bottom and jumped up pretending that I was fine and waving everyone's attempts to help me away - I said "Don't worry, don't worry - I've been riding horses for years.....I know how to fall properly"!!!!  What a donut!!!  :D  :D  :D

5 minutes later stood by the bar and my legs went from under me!!  First Aiders came flying out of the woodwork and the next thing I know I'm being carried (must have been a VERY strong man) out to a car and off to the hospital!!  ;-)

Cheers everyone - am feeling a bit better now, at least I can laugh at myself!! :D

Tee hee dont you mean that you know how to do bruises??? If there is one thing that falling off of horses has taught me it is that if you feel even slightly unwell you should go to hospital as soon as possible. Now I just have to learn to listen to my own advice and not put a brave face on and say no no Im fine really I am, just before crumpling in to a heap :D

Hope you are feeling better soon {{hugs}}

Awwww! What a way to top off your Christmas do! The irony being that if you had been drunk you'd probably just have bounced and not done yourself any injury! :)

Best wishes for feeling better soon though!

Oh poor you!!  My sympathies for your broken finger, my toe hurt enough when I broke that so I can imagine how painful it must be!  Hope you feel better soon!
- By Charanda [de] Date 12.12.05 10:33 UTC
Thanks all - my finger does hurt Keeley, especially when I had a 5 stone Boxer bash it in the night as he was trying to snuggle into the bed next to me - OWWWWW, don't know who was more scared when I screamed him or OH who was snoring next to me!!!!!!  ;-)

Its my ribs more than anything - it hurts just breathing  :-(

Next time I will just get drunk - at least then I'll bounce as suggested!!  :D

Hehehehe!  that will teach you not to drink!  Alcohol softens the fall every time!

Here's wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thank you all  :-)  We have awards given out each year at our Xmas Party for various funny things that have gone on throughout the year.  I didn't get one this year however I somehow think I'm in with a chance next year with this being my nomination!!

I think a lot has to be said for being sensible and drinking water.........like why????!!!!  I'll know better next time!! ;-)
