I have a 10 year old yorkie and I'm wondering if she can still be breed?  Can any one help?

The KC will not register pups when the mum is over 8 unless special circumstances so i would say no!
I have never bred a dog, but i dont think i would at 10 - it seems too old to me - but there are breeders on her who will point you in the right direction :-)

Why would you want to breed a 10 year old? She's at retiring age now, and should be having a quiet life :-)

The reason I want to breed her is she will not be around to much longer and I would like another dog just like her.  That is why I would like to breed her.

Goodness, having pups at 10 years old could kill her! :(
Love her for what she is and contact her breeder and see if she is still breeding from a similar line.

Please tell me your joking if you love your dog so much you would not even consider breeding her at the age of 10! you will never replace her each dog is individual and even if you had one of her litter it would not be her!

If a Yorkie lives to 13-15 years, why would you want to breed from it when it would be the equivalent of over 91 years??? At 10 years old the Yokie is 70 years old, in human terms of age and at 8, maximum age for registering with the KC it's 56. So really it's good if it lives to 13 or over, but after the age of 10 it's really on it's way to a peaceful happy retirement, and as such may not live much longer?

Is the Poster thinking it's April the 1st?? Wrong season Hun :D :D :D

I can understand the wish to have another one 'just like her', but I agree with others that she's far too old to breed from. Go back to her breeder and she'll be able to find you a great-niece or great-nephew. :-)

I'm afraid that if you were to attempt to breed from her, she certainly wouldn't be around much longer - it would be tantamount to expecting a 70yar old woman to go through a pregnancy!

As others have suggested, contact her breeder, and you should be able to find a great neice around somewhere.

Regards

Margot

i have just read this and am saddened, you will NEVER get a dog who is the same as your current dog, replacements just dont work as all dogs are different, please please dont breed her!!
